Why I Built This

Working as an e-commerce admin assistant for an Islamic clothing retailer gave me the day-to-day basics, but a live store isn’t the place to experiment. Shopify’s free development stores solve that, so I set one up, Dean’s Libaas, modelled on the same kind of modest/Islamic clothing catalogue as my day job, so the practice actually transfers back.

What This Covers

• Building out a small catalogue from scratch: Mehaar Purple, Luxe Arielle Saree, Maira Kaftan Pink, Faryal X, and Daisy Co Ord, across full size runs and mixed pricing
• Structuring collections (Home page, Royale, Luxury) rather than just adding products to one flat list
• Getting properly familiar with this year’s newer Shopify admin, at my own pace

Why It Matters

Practising on a store with nothing riding on it means I can push further, try theme changes, restructure collections, test bulk edits, than I’d risk on a live shop. It’s already sharpened how I think about catalogue structure and admin workflow in my actual role.

What’s Next

Adding real product photography and full descriptions, customising the “Royale” theme so the storefront reads as a finished concept rather than a placeholder, and using the store to practice discounts, basic reporting, and order workflows once there’s a fuller catalogue in place.
